I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

World Cyber Games Malaysia 2008

Monday, August 18, 2008

World Cyber Games, the Olympics of cyber (or computer) games is the biggest cyber event in the world. Gamers from all parts of the world will meet in a grand one-week-long event to determine the champion in their respective events. Winning a medal in the WCG is the aim of all competitive gamers, for both national and personal pride.

I was there at the Malaysian League of WCG, which was held at Midvalley Convention Centre last weekend.

Packed with people

Samsung Public Booths

Ntv7 Breakfast Show crew was there too!

The people and the giant screens

I participated in the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne event together with my loyal training mate, XY.

Warcraft 3 Tournament Brackets (click to zoom)

Haha XY wasnt really lucky with the draws. He faced an M1 (a top gaming clan) dude in the first round.

Me, on the other hand got some unknown player.

5 minutes later,

The guy cabuted after he found out who i was. Walkover !

We were told to change into the official tournament Tshirts

Before

After

Tournament Area

Counter strike teams setting up hardware. Look at the gadjets :P

Caught 5 time WCG Malaysia Warcraft Champion playing ... Starcraft while the rest were warming up for our first round of warcraft. Wah lansinyer

At the end of the day, XY(MvG.Reyka) was defeated 0-2 by M1- Noxodox. He then dropped to the losers' bracket where he will get a second chance for a comeback.

I, on the other hand . . . .

Got lucky again!

its edwin1993's turn to run away. Walkover no 2!

And hence, the day ended with me getting into top 8 of the Winners' Bracket. =)

DAY 2

Superstar champion John was there!

Malaysian Idol finalist Ash Nair was there to show off his [strike]noob[/strike] AWESOME Guitar Hero skills.

Scroll down for specs~

Yang couldnt make it in time for the Loser's Bracket match as he was stuck in UPM, hence his opponent got a walkover.

I faced SiN[Pin.zC] for my first tough match

This is an all important match that will make or break me.

And i changed my nick, to dedicate this game to my dear friend Kavi, my source of inspiration. :)

10 minutes later . . .

Obviously the inspiration wasnt enough :'(

And hence i was sent to the Losers' Bracket. I loitered around while waiting for the match.

Now this is a rare sight: Nuffnang employees versus Bloggers in a counterstrike match Haha

And when i was playing some casual games with 2 other wc3 contestants at the public booth, this china dude popped out from no where and challenged us one by one.

all 3 of us lost =.=

When you dont have a mousepad, you improvise!

The loser's Bracket match was at 6pm. I played SiN[Pin.zC]'s friend, Serry.

I got 2-0ed.

That ended my wcg journey :P
